Ok, this week I found myself wearing a less than favorite hat – the plight of an entrepreneur. I’m redesigning the online Corner Store, where our toys and books are available for you to open our world to your children, grandchildren, and friends. While the store is critical…..as is getting your investment in my little venture…. I’d much rather be doing more
fun, effortless things like writing new stories, and songs, and creating new activities and e-cards for the website.
THAT is my passion!
In fact, this week I came across a little inspirational book on Dreams. The author is a Dream Coach who helps people and companies find, create and accomplish their dreams. This really caught my attention, because that’s exactly what I hope to accomplish with Jubilee Jam, but for kids. To have my inspiring stories and soulful little characters be your kids little “dream coaches” and leave a lasting impression long after they grow up that imprints on their hearts and minds the ability to dream and follow their passions through all the inevitable challenges.
The Dream coach went on to tell how she was called by the Oprah show as they were screening several “Passion Experts” to select for an upcoming show. The next day they called back to tell her she had been selected. When she asked what it was that caused them to pick her, they simply said, because “ you were the most passionate.”
I think it’s impossible to separate dreams and passion. Passion gives fire and fuel to our dreams even when they seem very far off.
Jubilee Jam as I have envisioned it, is a magical world that encourages children to dream and to develop their own unique sense of who they are—what makes them, them, their interests, abilities and special gifts. And hopefully in that discovery, they will learn to celebrate it and share it with the world.
In my first book, I call this their “lost treasure.” And we have a “royal party in Jubilee Jam” when anyone finds some lost treasure!
Those lost treasures lead to GREAT ADVENTURES that take us to the most unexpected places. They stretch us, hopefully bring out the very best in us and most important of all, the world is better for it! I believe every child, has a secret treasure locked up on the inside. My goal is to ignite those early dreams with sparks of light that will one day encourage them to reach for the stars,
As parents, I know we all want to see out kids reach their highest potential, and live a purposeful life.
I’ll close with a quote that summarizes beautifully the sentiments I’ve just described.
“ Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations, I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, Believe in them, and follow where they may lead.”
Louisa May Alcott
